Over the years, I’ve used many glucometers. I got my first one when I was about 25 yrs. old. It cost $350.00 dollars. IBM covered that expense for me. It took minutes to get a result but what an improvement! Today, they give the glucometers away if you buy test strips. Results in 5 seconds. The best improvement I have seen for diabetes management.
I have been using One Touch meters for decades. I like the mini for my purse. I was really happy to learn the Verio IQ charged from a USB port or electrical plug. No more batteries. I got one and what a disappointment. The test strips error out on a ERR 2 on about every second strip. I have engaged with LifeScan on so many occasions to tell them about this problem. They replace the glucometer and test strips but the problem has not gone away. I sent them faulty strips but the problem continues to this day.
I am lucky to have a medical plan so using extra strips is not much of a problem for me. That is not true for other diabetics. At almost a buck a strip, it adds up.
DON’T GET A VERIO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MEDICAL COVERAGE.
