I had heard of the Disability Tax Credit some time ago. My mother had learned of it through a colleague and passed the information on to me.  The process seemed quite complex and confusing.  I eventually forgot about it.

A few years later (during an appointment at the Diabetic Education Centre) one of the Educator’s asked if I was aware of the Disability Tax Credit and gave me Brenda’s business card.  Again, I hesitated because I was familiar with the complexity of the process.

Eventually, I called Brenda to inquire.  I was impressed but it sounded way too good to be true.  I gave it some thought then decided to trust her word.  I continued to be impressed throughout the whole process with Brenda’s unrelenting pursuit on our behalf (both my son and I are T1D). Brenda’s knowledge, experience and professionalism are outstanding. Her tenacity with the CRA is unprecedented!

Brenda’s word is GOLD, literally!!  We received approximately $20,000.00. We have decided to use the refund for a long overdue trip to Australia to visit family.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Brenda. Until I met her, I had no idea that T1D’s were even eligible for the Disability Tax Credit! Now, I have over $9,000 in my pocket right around Christmas and have another tax sheltering vehicle for my investments, an RDSP.

A friend of mine referred me to Brenda in Aug 2019.  He had just received his refunds from the CRA because of Brenda’s services.  I had never been told there was such a thing as DTC. Honestly, it was music to my ears. As a pensioner with no benefits, the costs associated with diabetes are staggering. It has been 27 years and the last 10 years paying out of pocket for everything. My Dr. referred me to BRENDA and she did all the paperwork. Communication was great and she always responded promptly. I knew nothing about the TAX CREDIT and BRENDA went to work guiding me through all the steps. It was a nice windfall right before CHRISTMAS. Now a winter vacation is in the works – LONG OVERDUE. We heard about Brenda from our accountant who met her in person.  She was impressed with Brenda and said we had to call her.  She also knew our previous attempts were not approved.  

I received contact information for Brenda from a member of my diabetic team. I had previously attempted filling out the Disability Tax Credit paperwork on my own but with the restrictions I didn’t know how to go about proving that I actually put in the time required to qualify. I immediately contacted Brenda and she got back to me quickly and arranged a phone call so we could discuss in detail my daily routines. She sent me out forms to sign in the mail and I sent them back and she dealt with everything. She told me it would be a few months before I might hear anything and she called me approximately 2.5 months later saying I had been approved. Brenda let me know I might still be waiting to hear how much my refund would be and could be several weeks or months before I received the refund. However, just a few weeks later she called me that my refund would be deposited in a week. I received the direct deposit refund to my account and I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Brenda’s help and I can’t thank her enough for providing this service for diabetics. We, as T1 diabetics, definitely put in the time and money that should qualify us – but thankfully she knows how to navigate the complicated process.
Although we’ll be saving most of the refund for now, my husband and I are expecting our first baby in a couple of months and we will be using some of the refund to complete the new nursery.
